How to add images to your TypeVideos
Adding images, videos and audio to your TypeVideos is very easy. There’s no extra charge for adding content you send us. Here are our Tips and Guidelines on how to get the best images for your video!
Since our videos are all in Full HD, we ask you to pay attention to the following guidelines so that we can maintain the quality of the final video:
These are all recommendations for improved quality when using images.
1. Full screen images
As of April 2014, all our videos are 1920 x 1080 pixels. That means, if you want an image to cover the whole screen, its resolution should match the video’s. It could also be larger, since decreasing an image won’t affect its quality.
2. Images within a video
For images that will not cover the whole screen, aim at least 1100 x 800 pixels. This ensures that the image fits nicely in the video and still looks sharp.
3. Image backgrounds
It is important to pay attention to backgrounds. If an image has a white or grey background it will not look good on video. Instead, try looking for large PNG images with transparent background.
How to search for large images on Google Images:
You can search for large images on Google Images. Specify the size of the image by clicking, on the image search results page: Search Tools > Size > Large – as shown in the image below:
In case you want an image with a transparent background search for image name + PNG. For example: “Money + PNG”
Note that images from Google Images are not always free to use, they can be under copyright and/or watermarked.
Resources for getting free-to-use images:
MorgueFile – Free. One of my personal favorites. An online database of free stock photos. The photographers sometimes ask for attribution. Please check the license on each picture.
Gratisography – Free-to-use stock photos. These can be used for commercial projects, no attribution required.
Unsplash – Free (do whatever you want) hi-resolution photos. 10 new photos every 10 days.
When it comes to paid services I recommend these:
Icon Finder – Free and Paid graphics that fit beautifully into our videos.
Find Icons – Free and Paid icons. Despite the similarity of names, this is a different website from the one above.
Iconmonstr – Free minimalistic icons that can be used in a wide variety of situations.
Remember to pay attention to point #3 in this list, and always make sure the image has a transparent background. Also keep in mind that icons are usually quite small, so if you use any of the services above, make sure the icon size is at least of 256px.
